🔥🔥🔥 BREAKING: MAJOR AUSTRALIA VISA REFORMS ANNOUNCED TODAY (SEPTEMBER 17, 2026)!
Australia’s Minister for Immigration, Tony Burke, has officially outlined massive overhauls to the nation’s migration system in today's press conference. These changes focus directly on lowering Net Overseas Migration (NOM) to 245,000 this financial year and 225,000 by 2027–28, while putting a firm stop to "visa-hopping."
📌 Important Note: While these reform measures were announced today, the official commencement date for implementation has NOT yet been confirmed by the government.

KEY CHANGES AT A GLANCE:
✅ Visitor Visas: Strict "No Further Stay" condition applied to ALL visitor visas, no converting to other visas onshore.
✅ Student Visas (Dependants): Going forward, student visa holders cannot bring spouses or children, EXCEPT for students from Pacific and ASEAN nations, or those enrolled in specific postgraduate courses such as PhDs. For families already in Australia on a student visa, Minister Burke confirmed they will NOT be separated onshore.
✅ Student Visas (Course Progression): Onshore renewals now require stepping up qualification levels (e.g., Bachelor's to Master's only). No horizontal or downward transfers.
✅ Work & Holiday (Subclass 462): Year 2 and Year 3 extensions will now run through a Ballot System.
✅ Skilled Visa & Points Test Overhaul: Priority processing expanded for Construction, Agriculture, Fisheries, Resources, and Teaching. Crucially, trade qualifications in housing/construction will receive the SAME points test score as a university degree.
✅ Strict Overstay Enforcement: Increased compliance officers and 250 extra detention beds added specifically for fast-tracked deportations.
Stay compliant, plan your pathway early, and stay tuned for further updates on when these new rules will officially take effect!
