Another GCDLA AGM Lunch, another year as VP!

Just over 10 years ago, Dani and Erin met at a Griffith University Meet the Profession event. In 2015, they became colleagues and as time passed, besties, work wives and partners in crime.

We started .crim.lawyers as we wanted to show a different side to the stereotypical criminal lawyer - we wanted young women to see that you can be true to yourself in law and find a path you love.

This month Dani starts a new journey in her career, which means she says farewell to .crim.lawyers and Potts Lawyers.

We want to thank you all for your support and encouragement and whilst LCL will look a little different without Dani, the reason we created this page hasn’t changed and LCL will still be here! So please join Erin in wishing Dani all the best in her exciting new chapter 🥂

We headed to the GCDLA AGM Lunch on Friday with some of our team - it was a great opportunity to network with our colleagues (with 3 babies between us, those opportunities are rarer these days!).

Erin is excited to have signed up for another year as Vice President of the GCDLA committee, and looking forward to planning the year ahead with the 2023/2024 committee - many of whom are back for more! Special shout out to our friend and colleague, Ailsa Day who has just joined the committee!

Another successful outcome for a client of ours this morning. Our client was a respondent to a private domestic violence protection order application and were able to have the application dismissed today, in circumstances where the aggrieved did not show up to court.

Today was the first mention of the matter since our client had been served with the application. However, applications can be dismissed at any point of the court proceedings if the aggrieved applicant does not come to Court (or if they have not engaged a solicitor to come on their behalf).

Was amazing to speak with the next group of students last week.

We were both students of the Griffith University Innocence Project, fell in love with criminal law and ended up at where the lessons we learnt (and continue to learn) at the Project influence the way we practice.

So excited to get back to working with the students, guiding them on the cases!
