You're reviewing your finances this EOFY. When did you last review your Will?

Most people update their finances every year. Their Will? Not nearly as often. But life changes a lot in 12 months.

If you've bought or sold property, changed your relationship, had children or grandchildren, or lost a beneficiary, your Will may no longer reflect what you actually want.

And here's something most people don't know: your superannuation doesn't automatically follow your Will. A Binding Death Benefit Nomination is a completely separate document, and it lapses every three years.

We might be known for the law, but it turns out we're pretty handy on the beach too. 🏆

The OMB team took out the GCDLA Annual Beach Relay last week, capping off two incredible years where the team has gone undefeated across the beach relay, trivia and lawn bowls.

Honestly, we could not be prouder of everyone who showed up and gave it their all. This is what the OMB team is all about.

Most separating parents don't realise there's a fundamental difference between these two.

And it's a distinction that can seriously affect what you're able to do if things break down.

A Parenting Plan and a Parenting Order sound almost identical. One is flexible and low-cost. The other is legally binding. Swipe through to understand what each one means before you sign anything.

There's also something most people don't know: a newer Parenting Plan can override an existing Parenting Order under the Family Law Act, sometimes without you realising it.

EOFY isn’t just about tax returns. There’s something important most people don’t realise 👇

Your superannuation doesn’t automatically follow your Will.

It catches a lot of people off guard, but it matters. Your super fund distributes your balance based on your nominated beneficiary, not your estate plan. If that nomination has lapsed or wasn’t set up correctly, your super could end up somewhere you never intended.

It’s one of the most common gaps we see in estate planning, and one of the easiest to fix when you know what to look for.

EOFY is the perfect time to check:

• Do you have a valid nomination in place?
• Is it binding or non-binding?
• Has it expired? Many lapse every three years
• Does it still reflect your current wishes?
