Did you need employment or insurance advice?
Just the name COVID-19 causes most of our hearts to race. For many in our community, the job losses and business closure as a result of the Government’s pandemic has or will cause significant financial hardship.
Whilst the health and well-being of our clients and staff is at the forefront of our minds, we also understand that at this time you may need to talk to a lawyer about what options you may have.
If you have lost your job or you have had to or need to lay off staff and want to discuss your options with a lawyer, please give us a call. As an employee you have 21 days from the time of your dismissal to lodge a claim with the Fair Work Commission (a good resource is https://www.fwc.gov.au/).
If you are a business who has closed or is closing, your first call should be to your insurance broker to discuss what insurance policies you have. It is important to notify your insurer and make claims early even if you or your broker are not certain if the policy you have covers you. If you don’t have a broker or you have received a denial from the insurer and want to discuss it further then please give us a call.
Superannuation: Before you consider taking money out of your super, we recommend that you seek financial advice from a suitably qualified financial adviser and to consider the insurance policies you may have attached to your super. You may not even be aware you have insurance, many people have insurance policies through their super funds including income protection.
If you need to chat about the above please call 5821 1455, our office doors may be closed as of Monday but we are still taking phone calls and available for service and support.
The Fair Work Commission is Australia's national workplace relations tribunal. It is an independent body with power to carry out a range of functions under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).
