3 Tips for Providing Transparent Communication

Clear and honest communication helps build trust, confidence, and stronger relationships.

1. Be Clear and Honest
Share information in a simple, respectful, and easy-to-understand way.

2. Listen and Encourage Questions
Give everyone the opportunity to express their thoughts, concerns, and preferences.

3. Keep People Informed
Provide updates about changes, decisions, and next steps so everyone knows what to expect.

At Gallawah Disability Support Services, we believe transparent communication supports trust, choice, and control.

Because everyone deserves to feel informed, respected, and heard.

Independence Looks Different for Everyone.

Every person has their own goals, strengths, and journey. For some, independence means learning a new skill. For others, it means making their own choices, building confidence, or taking small steps towards something meaningful.

At Gallawah Disability Support Services, we believe independence is about having the choice, control, and support to live life your way.

We celebrate every achievement, no matter how big or small, because every step forward matters.

Your journey. Your choices. Your independence. We’re here to walk alongside you. ❤️

💛 Gallawah Is Out in the Community!

Our Gallawah team is at the R U OK? Conversation Convoy in Shepparton today!

We’re proud to support an event that encourages meaningful conversations, strengthens community connections, and reminds us of the importance of checking in on one another.

A simple conversation can make a real difference. Let’s continue to create spaces where people feel heard, supported, and connected.

At Gallawah, we believe in the importance of connection, compassion, and making sure people know they don’t have to face challenges alone.

Because asking “R U OK?” can be the start of something important. 💛

💻 Can My NDIS Plan Cover Digital Tools and Devices? ❤️💛

Digital tools and devices can sometimes help people with disability communicate, access information, manage everyday activities and stay connected.

Depending on your individual needs and NDIS plan, some technology may be considered as part of your disability-related supports.

❤️ Communication Tools
Devices or apps that help you communicate your needs, choices and ideas.

💛 Technology for Everyday Tasks
Digital tools that may help with routines, reminders, organisation or accessing information.

❤️ Access and Independence
Technology that can help you participate more independently at home or in the community.

💛 Staying Connected
Tools that can support communication with your family, community or support team.

NDIS funding rules can vary, and not every device or digital product will be funded. The technology generally needs to be related to your disability and meet NDIS funding requirements.

At Gallawah, we can walk beside you as you explore your support options and work towards greater choice, connection and independence.

Your technology. Your choices. Your independence. ❤️💛

🏡 What Types of Home Changes Can the NDIS Fund? ❤️💛

Some home modifications may be funded through the NDIS when they are related to a participant’s disability and help improve safety, accessibility or independence.

Examples may include:

❤️ Bathroom modifications — such as accessible showers, grab rails or changes that make using the bathroom safer.

💛 Access modifications — such as ramps, accessible entrances or changes to doorways.

❤️ Kitchen modifications — changes that can make everyday tasks more accessible and easier to manage.

💛 Safety and accessibility changes — other approved modifications that help a person move around and use their home more safely and independently.

Every person’s circumstances are different, and not every home modification will be funded by the NDIS. An assessment and supporting evidence may be required, depending on the type and complexity of the modification.

At Gallawah, we can walk beside you as you explore your options and understand the steps involved.

Your home. Your safety. Your independence. ❤️💛

❤️ 3 Tips for Supporting Independence 💛

Supporting independence means giving people the choice, confidence and opportunity to take an active role in their own lives.

❤️ 1. Encourage Choice
Give people opportunities to make decisions about their daily routines, activities and support. Their preferences and goals should guide the way.

💛 2. Build on Strengths
Focus on what a person can do and encourage them to develop skills at their own pace. Celebrate progress, including the small steps.

❤️ 3. Support, Don’t Take Over
Offer assistance when it’s needed while allowing the person to do as much as they can for themselves. Sometimes, the best support is knowing when to step back.

At Gallawah, we believe independence looks different for everyone. We listen to each person’s goals, respect their choices and walk beside them as they build confidence and work towards the life they want.

Your choices. Your goals. Your independence. ❤️💛

❤️ At the end of the day, people may not remember everything we did for them — but they will remember how we made them feel. 💛

At Gallawah, we believe meaningful support is about more than completing tasks.

It’s about creating moments where people feel:

❤️ Heard — their voice and experiences matter.
💛 Respected — their choices, culture and individuality are valued.
❤️ Supported — they know someone is walking beside them.
💛 Included — they feel connected and that they belong.

Every interaction is an opportunity to show kindness, respect, patience and genuine care.

Because the way we make someone feel can leave a lasting impact.

❤️ 3 Tips for Collaborating with Other Professionals 💛

Good collaboration helps create consistent, coordinated and person-centred support.

❤️ 1. Keep Communication Clear
Share relevant information respectfully and clearly, while maintaining the person’s privacy and confidentiality.

💛 2. Keep the Person at the Centre
The person receiving support should remain at the heart of every conversation. Listen to their goals, preferences, choices and priorities.

❤️ 3. Work Towards Shared Goals
Professionals can bring different skills and perspectives. Working together can help create a coordinated approach that supports the person’s individual needs and goals.

At Gallawah, we believe collaboration works best when everyone listens, communicates and works together—with the person’s voice leading the way.

Different professionals. One shared focus: supporting the person. ❤️💛

❤️ Your life. Your choices. Your goals. Your voice matters. 💛

At Gallawah, we believe you should have a say in the support you receive and the life you want to live.

❤️ Your Life — Your journey is unique, and your individuality matters.

💛 Your Choices — You have the right to make decisions about your support and what matters to you.

❤️ Your Goals — Your dreams and aspirations deserve to be heard and supported.

💛 Your Voice — Your opinions, experiences, culture and preferences are important.

We provide person-centred and culturally safe support, walking beside you as you work towards greater choice, confidence and independence.

We don’t lead your journey. We walk beside you. ❤️💛

💡 What Is Assistive Technology and How Does It Help? ❤️💛

Assistive technology includes equipment, devices and tools that can help people with disability complete everyday activities, communicate, move around and live more independently.

❤️ Support Communication
Tools such as communication devices or apps can help people express their needs, choices and ideas.

💛 Support Everyday Activities
Technology can make tasks such as cooking, dressing, reading or accessing information easier.

❤️ Support Mobility and Access
Equipment can help people move around safely and access their home and community.

💛 Build Independence
The right technology can give people greater choice, confidence and control in their everyday lives.

At Gallawah, we understand that everyone’s needs and goals are different. Assistive technology should be considered around the individual—not a one-size-fits-all approach.

We believe in listening to what matters to you and walking beside you as you explore options that may support your goals and independence. ❤️💛

Your needs. Your choices. Your independence.

Gallawah — walking beside you.
