"What does Thursday mean for my invesment property?"

It means the core reforms - CGT and negative gearing - are now in black and white. It also means the fine print investors need most still isn't there yet. That's coming in a second bill later this year.

Under the government's current proposal, properties bought before 7:30pm on 12 May have their negative gearing grandfathered. But the bill still has to pass the Senate, and the negotiations are live. Nothing is locked in yet.
