When filing for divorce, you can either do a sole or joint application. As a sole applicant, you are the only one who has to sign the papers in front of an authorised witness such as a Justice of Peace or lawyer. You will then need to serve them to the other party.
In the case of a joint application, both parties must sign the Affidavit for e-Filing the divorce in front of a witness. The parties do not need to sign simultaneously. This can be done at different times and the witnesses can also be different. Since both parties have already signed the papers, you are not required to serve the documents to the other party.
