CONFIRMED!
From 1 September 2026 paper certificates of title become redundant.
This means you no longer have to store them safely, or provided them when you are dealing with your property.
Is that safe? Yes! The lawyer, conveyancer, or bank dealing with a title must take strict measures to verify the identity of the person and assess their right to deal with the title to make sure they are the right person.
If you have questions, please get in touch.

Your house title may be worthless!!!

From 1 September 2026, Certificates of Title are being made redundant.

This is great for 2 reasons:

1. You will no longer have to keep a piece of blue A4 paper safe (and no more lost title problems delaying settlements of sales); and
2. Your sale can be done using the new electronic conveyancing system which greatly reduces the time it takes for title registration

Of course, you can keep you paper title for sentimental reasons, but after 1 September 2026 it will be worthless - in a good way.
