More than 25,000 teachers and school staff in NSW public schools now have permanent jobs under the Chris Minns NSW Labor Government.
That matters.
For too long, many people working in our schools were on temporary contracts, even though they had been part of their school community for years.
Permanency gives staff more certainty. It helps schools hold onto experienced people. And it means students are more likely to have familiar, consistent faces in the classroom and around the school.
This is one of those reforms that may not always make headlines, but it makes a real difference in the day-to-day life of a school.
Teacher vacancies are now at a 12-year low, and merged and cancelled classes have halved across NSW since the election.
That is good for staff, good for students, and good for public education.
