🌿 Important update for primary producers 🌿

Many of our clients — and our own team — have understandably raised concerns about what the recent changes to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) mean for vegetation clearing.

In short: if a primary producer has previously operated under Category X or thinning cycles, an individual assessment under the EPBC Act may now be required if the vegetation meets any of the following criteria:

• The vegetation is more than 15 years old
• Clearing may affect a Matter of National Environmental Significance (MNES)
• The vegetation is located near Great Barrier Reef (GBR) drainage features

These changes could have significant implications for on-ground operations, so it’s important to understand how they may apply to your situation.
