We’re hiring!
SCALES Community Legal Centre is looking for a passionate Client Advocate to join our team in Rockingham.

In this vital role, you will provide trauma-informed, wraparound support and advocacy for vulnerable women impacted by family, domestic, and sexual violence (FDSV), helping them to develop safety plans, manage risks and provide practical support as well as advocacy and referrals as required.

You will have the opportunity to develop collaborative partnerships with other agencies, including Police, local health services, and other support organisations.
As well as providing specialist FDSV information and contributing to community legal education programs.

We’re hiring a Paralegal! ⚖️
Are you a highly organised professional looking to use your legal skills for a meaningful cause? We are seeking a Paralegal to play a critical role in supporting the delivery of legal services to vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community.

Working closely with our lawyers, you will provide vital casework and administrative support to ensure the efficient progression of legal matters.

What you’ll do:
• Legal Casework Support: Summarise evidence, conduct research, and liaise with court registries, police prosecutions, and external agencies.
• Document & File Management: Draft and format court forms, affidavits, and correspondence, while managing critical dates.
• Operational Assistance: Assist in coordinating Murdoch University SCALES Law Clinic students, and help deliver Community Legal Education programs.

Without standard benchmarks, it is impossible to track progress effectively or ensure that targeted support reaches those who need it most.

We're all set up at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex for the City of Rockingham – Local Government Seniors and Carers Expo.

Drop in to say hello and learn more about the services we offer in the local community. The Expo runs from 10am to 2pm, is inclusive and accessible.

There will be live entertainment, presentations, free activities and refreshments.

Come along to the Mike Barnett Sports Complex in Rockingham between 10:00am and 2:00pm to speak with our team. We will be on-site among more than 120 exhibitors.

Each Tuesday SCALES provides a Duty Lawyer service for women in the family violence restraining order list at the Rockingham Magistrates Court.

Our duty lawyer can give you advice about your legal options and the process of what will happen in court. Priority will be given based on legal need. How much our duty lawyer can help you will depend on your personal situation, the nature of your legal matter and the needs of other people using the service on the day.
