Thanking the International Institute for Law and Politics for the invitation to join the 9th Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day Webinar 2026 will be held today, 26 August 2026 from Dhaka.
9 years of lives on hold. 9 years of surviving in the camps. 9 years since the large-scale forced displacement of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar into Bangladesh.
Some 1.2 million Rohingya refugees remain in Bangladesh, most in camps in Cox’s Bazar, unable to safely return home as violence and conflict continue in Myanmar.
Humanitarian support has saved lives and provided learning, healthcare and protection. But funding is shrinking, critical services are at risk and families are being pushed towards increasingly desperate choices.
The world’s attention may have shifted, but the Rohingya refugees' need for safety and a life with dignity has not.
9 years on, we cannot look away. The community needs to build strategic relationships.
