Today we celebrate a powerful and deeply meaningful outcome.

Ruppert Legal recently assisted a woman who arrived in Australia as a dependant on her husband’s visa. Behind closed doors, she endured years of serious domestic violence. The situation escalated to a life‑threatening incident, after which her partner fled the country.

Despite this, the risks did not end. She faced real fear of returning home, having been threatened with harm to both her and her children.

We prepared a Protection visa application on the basis of membership of a particular social group — women who have experienced domestic violence. The application was supported by detailed evidence and relevant case law addressing her unique circumstances.

The result: her visa was granted - no appeals, no Ministerial Interventions.

She and her children can now rebuild their lives in safety.
Protection visas are complex and often difficult to obtain, particularly in cases that fall outside more traditional pathways of persecution. This makes the outcome even more significant.

Today is a reminder of what the system can achieve at its best — protecting lives and providing a pathway to safety and dignity.

NSW Opens Subclass 491 Pathway 1 and Pathway 3 Nominations
NSW has now opened nomination applications for the Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa for the 2025–26 year. This includes Pathway 1 and Pathway 3.

Pathway 1 – Work in Regional NSW
You may be eligible under this pathway if you are:

• working in your nominated occupation (or a closely related occupation)
• employed in a designated regional area of NSW
• working for the same regional NSW employer for at least six continuous months
• paid at or above the TSMIT/CSIT rate at the time of application
If you need a TSMIT/CSIT concession, your employer must complete the online form and receive approval before you apply.
Pathway 3 – Regional NSW Graduate
You may qualify under this pathway if you have completed a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree (coursework or research), or PhD at a regional NSW education provider.

Your study must:
• relate to your nominated occupation
• appear on the NSW Regional Skills List
• have been completed within the past two years
Important Note on Places
NSW has a limited number of nomination places for the subclass 491 visa this year. Pathways may close once all places are used.

Today is one of those days that reminds us why our work matters.

A client who has lived in Australia for nearly ten years without certainty finally has security. After so long in limbo, and after facing the real risk of having to leave the place she now calls home, she is at last a permanent resident.

We first met less than three months ago. Her situation was complex, her future was unclear; but she showed courage and trust. Together, we mapped a path forward. Step by step, we rebuilt her case and turned years of uncertainty into a clear outcome.

And today, she is a permanent resident of Australia.

Seeing her relief, her tears, and her hope for the future is something we will carry with us for a long time. These outcomes are not just visas. They are safety, stability, dignity, and a chance to rebuild.

Her courage has been inspiring, her resilience - something to admire. We are so grateful to have played a small part in helping her move forward.

Today is a good day. A reminder that even after years of uncertainty, change can happen; and it can happen fast.
