The Australian Government has officially set the permanent Migration Program for the upcoming year at 185,000 places, maintaining a strong focus on building the economy and reuniting families.

The government is heavily prioritizing those already in the country. A massive 129,590 places have been allocated specifically for onshore migrants. If you are already here on a temporary visa, your pathway to permanent residency just got a major green light!
👉 𝟐. 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐨𝐧’𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞
Accounting for roughly 71% of the entire program, 132,240 places are dedicated to the Skilled Migration stream. Notably:
✅Employer-Sponsored visas see a massive jump to 58,040 places (up from 44,000).
✅Skilled Independent (Subclass 189) allocation has increased to 21,090 places.
✅State/Territory Nominated (Subclass 190) has bumped up to 35,500 places.
👉 3. Family Reunification Remains Strong
With 52,460 places locked in for the Family Program, the government continues to prioritize keeping immediate families together, with Partner and Child visas making up the vast majority of this stream.
