📢 New Salary Thresholds Confirmed for Employer Sponsored Visas
Effective 1 July 2026

The Australian Bureau of Statistics has released the November 2025 AWOTE figures, automatically triggering updated income thresholds under Regulation 5.42A.

From 1 July 2026, the new thresholds will be:
Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT)
➡️ $79,499 (up from $76,515)
Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT)
➡️ $146,717 (up from $141,210)

These increases apply to:
• Subclass 482 – Core & Specialist streams
• Subclass 186 – TRT & Direct Entry
• 482 and 186 Labour Agreement streams (unless otherwise specified)

Importantly, Subclass 494 and Subclass 187 TRT are not automatically indexed, as they remain tied to TSMIT, which requires a separate legislative update.

There is no retrospective impact, the new thresholds apply only to nominations lodged on or after 1 July 2026.

For employers, this is more than an administrative update. It affects:
• Salary budgeting for FY 2026–27
• Nomination timing
• Market salary benchmarking
• Labour Agreement strategy

Also remember: the threshold must be met through guaranteed base salary only, superannuation and non-monetary benefits cannot be included.

If you have nominations planned for late June, now is the time to review timing and salary structures.

Proactive planning avoids higher commitments and recruitment delays.
