📢 Australia's residential construction industry continues to face significant skilled labour shortages, despite ongoing uncertainty in the housing market. According to the latest Housing Industry Association (HIA) Trades Report, workforce shortages remain a major challenge, with an estimated 83,000 additional skilled tradespeople needed to meet the nation's housing demands.

Trades including Bricklayers, Carpenters, Roofers, and Tilers remain in particularly short supply, while regions such as Western Australia, Queensland, and South Australia continue to experience some of the most severe workforce shortages.

With strong population growth, major infrastructure projects, renewable energy developments, and preparations for the Brisbane Olympics all driving demand, the need for skilled international talent is expected to remain high.

Perdaman Global Services (PGS) has successfully completed another recruitment campaign with Sirrom, continuing our commitment to connecting Australian employers with high-quality international talent.

This latest recruitment drive was about much more than conducting interviews. Our team worked closely with candidates and stakeholders to ensure compliance with client recruitment requirements, Formal Skills Assessment standards, and Australian visa criteria. Managing documentation, verification processes, logistics, and recruitment strategy across multiple stakeholders was a key focus throughout the campaign.

Key highlights:

👨‍🍳 Successfully recruited candidates for hospitality and skilled workforce opportunities
📋 Maintained full compliance with skills assessment and visa requirements
🔄 Effectively managed an unexpected candidate no-show through a pre-arranged backup process
✅ Achieved all recruitment objectives without disruption to the interview schedule
⭐ Recorded a noticeable improvement in candidate quality and competitiveness compared with previous years

One of the most encouraging outcomes was the exceptionally strong performance of the candidates. Many participants demonstrated high levels of skill, professionalism, and readiness for international employment, making final selection decisions increasingly challenging for the assessors.

At PGS, we are proud to continue building reliable talent pipelines that help Australian businesses address workforce shortages while creating life-changing opportunities for skilled professionals across the globe.
