The Australian government has announced new Sponsored Parent Visa which will let migrants bring their parents to Australia for a period of up to 10 years. Applications for the sponsorship will be open from April 17.

The Government has now announced the income threshold required to sponsor parents for this visa.

The Taxable income threshold has been set to $83,454.80 and the relevant income year is the most recently completed financial year prior to the lodgement of sponsorship application.

Five Year Sponsored Parent Temporary Visa Subclass 870 Australia :

New five year sponsored parent visa, the Subclass 870 Parent (Temporary) Visa, will be open for applications on 17 April 2019.

Process;

Sponsorship applications can be lodged from 17 April 2019
Visa cannot be lodged until a sponsor has been approved.
Applications for the visa are intended to open from 1 July 2019 (Once a sponsorship application has been approved)
Visa applications must be lodged within six months of sponsorship approval

Features:

Stay for up to five years
No Balance of Family test required
‘No work’ conditions will be applied
Health insurance will be required
Only two parents per household can be sponsored for this visa at a time.
Must provide evidence of access to funds
Parents are still eligible to apply for Visitor visas and/or permanent Parent visas.
Standard Visitor visa arrangements remain unchanged

Charges

Sponsorship application: $420
Visa application charge: $5,000 for 3 years duration, $10,000 for five years duration
