Another tough day in the jurisdiction ā€˜I call homeā€™.

There is a real lack of appreciation and sometimes entitlement for the lawyers that do Legal Aid work.

The pay is poor for the work, effort and commitment we put in. Often working 12 plus hours a day, 7 days a week. Clients offen think we do not have lives outside of being a Legal Aid lawyer.

But just occasionally, I have beautiful messages from parents and clients that appreciate the work I do.

Lovely text- thank you- in the midst of my ā€˜never ending illnessā€™ of late. Yes I did attend court today and did feel sick. But I love my work and love helping young people in the hope they donā€™t reach the adult criminal justice system.
