# # #⛑️🚑 Dear Nursing Applicants,

Your journey as a nurse in Australia begins with mandatory registration with an authorized body. Until you are successfully registered, you won’t be able to apply for a skills assessment for an independent visa or receive employer sponsorship for a work visa.

Registration Process Overview:

1. Self-Assessment**: Evaluate your qualifications and experience against Australian standards.
2. Orientation: Familiarize yourself with the Australian healthcare system and nursing practices.
3. Portfolio Presentation: Compile and present evidence of your skills and experience.
4. Examinations: Complete two required exams to demonstrate your competency.

Please review the summary of services offered and expected costs* to gain a clear understanding of our AUMA fees and third-party rates.

*These figures may vary slightly; please inquire for exact costs.

Important news for everyone currently holding a student visa, or planning to apply.

Additional applicant (18+):

Additional applicant (under 18):
AUD 1,160 (previously AUD 580)

🔁 Second Subclass 485 visa

Primary applicant:
AUD 1,810 (previously AUD 905)

Additional applicant (18+):
AUD 910 (previously AUD 455)

Additional applicant (under 18):

This week, our migration agent was honoured to be invited to an Australian Citizenship Ceremony held at the City of Wanneroo (WA). On this special day, one of our clients proudly became an Australian citizen — and for us, moments like this are always deeply moving and rewarding.

💥💥Life Hack: How to Get Closer to Australian Citizenship Faster

You’ve met the residency requirement, submitted your citizenship application, and finally received the long-awaited Invitation to sit the Australian Citizenship Test.
Usually, the test date is scheduled up to 3 months (or even longer) after the invitation.

👉 Good news: you don’t always have to wait that long.

✅ How to bring your citizenship test date forward

Here’s a simple but little-known trick:

1️⃣ Open your Invitation letter and find the section titled “If you cannot attend”.
It contains a link to the Department of Home Affairs appointment system.

2️⃣ Go to appointments.homeaffairs.gov.au and log in using:
your last name
your Client ID

3️⃣ Once inside the booking system, you can reschedule your test appointment.

⚠️ Important:
You are allowed to reschedule not only to later dates — but also to EARLIER❗ ones than the date assigned in your Invitation.

🗓️ Pro tip

Earlier slots often become available because other applicants cancel or reschedule.
If you don’t see a suitable date today, check again tomorrow or the next day.
Availability changes frequently, and you may easily grab a spot that has just opened.

✨ By rescheduling your test to an earlier date, you can:

✅pass the test sooner
✅attend the citizenship ceremony earlier
✅get closer to Australian citizenship faster

Save this tip and share it with someone who’s waiting for their citizenship test.

⚠ Incorrect Points Calculation for Skilled Visas (189 / 190 / 491) and Its Consequences

One of the most common — and at the same time most dangerous — mistakes in the migration process is incorrect calculation of points at the Expression of Interest (EOI) stage.

What happens if an applicant enters an incorrect number of points when submitting an EOI for 189/190/491 visas?

Let us consider two scenarios:
• Scenario 1: The applicant claims fewer points than they are actually entitled to.
• Scenario 2: The applicant claims more points than they are actually entitled to.

What consequences may arise?
Is it possible to correct points after an EOI has been lodged?
Let’s examine this in detail.

📌 Why points calculation errors occur
Incorrect points calculation at the application stage most commonly occurs due to a lack of understanding of the legal.
These are not “general guidelines” or recommendations.
Points allocation is governed by a specific chapter of the Migration Regulations 1994, where each term has a strictly defiIn practice, many applicants:
• calculate points intuitively;
• do not analyse the legal definitions of migration terms;
• fail to verify whether a particular points category actually applies to their circumstances;
• “assign” themselves
As a result, critical errors occur, which may lead to:
• refusal of a visa application;
• refusal of state or territory nomination;
• or the collapse

❌ Scenario 1: Claiming fewer points than actually available
At first glance, this situation may appear harmless, but the consequences can
If, for example, you claim 80 points while legally being entitled to 95–100 points:
• you lose competitiveness against applicants with higher claimed scores;
• other candidates receive invitations to rounds;
• your EOI is pushed to the “residual” category and considered only if quotas remain available;
• in most rounds, you simply receive no invitation
If no invitation is issued within 24 months from the date of lodgement, the EOI automatically expires and is removed from the SkillSelect system.

❗ This is not a refusal, but in practical terms, you are removed from the selection process.
That is why, for a successful visa outcome, it is not enough to have “some” points — what matters are competitive points, calculated correctly and lawfully.

❓ A logical question
If points are not verified and supporting documents are n at the EOI stage,
is it possible to “add” a few extra points?

❌ Scenario 2: The applicant claims more points than they are actually entitled to

This question will be discussed and published in our group.

We are often asked: CAN OUR AGENCY GUARANTEE A VISA APPROVAL?
The answer is: No. Australian law explicitly prohibits any migration agent or company from guaranteeing a visa outcome. If someone promises you a “100% guaranteed visa,” be cautious — this is almost certainly a scam.⚠️

Under the Migration Agents Code of Conduct (Schedule 2, Migration Agents Regulations 1998):

❗Clause 2.1A (Honesty): A migration agent must act honestly in all dealings.

❗Clause 2.9: An agent must not guarantee the outcome of a visa application.

❗Clause 2.10: An agent must explain that all visa decisions are made exclusively by the Department of Home Affairs, not by the agent.

❗Clause 5.2: Agents are prohibited from advertising or offering any guaranteed outcome.

A licensed migration agent will always act in the client’s best interests because:

- negative visa outcomes impact the agent’s professional standing,
- dissatisfied clients may lodge a complaint with OMARA, which can trigger a formal investigation,
- multiple complaints or poor conduct may lead to suspension or cancellation of the agent’s licence.

Before entering into a Service Agreement, our specialists always assess each client’s circumstances carefully. If the chances of a positive outcome are low or nonexistent, we will communicate this clearly, honestly, and transparently — as required by Australian law.

🎓 Myth vs Reality: “Student visas are not issued to applicants over 30”

Recently, a client filed a complaint.

Question: “Today, my partner called a few Australian universities and was told that the Department hasn’t been issuing student visas to applicants over 30 for a long time. Why didn’t your agent mention this during the consultation?”
Answer: Because that’s not true.

✅ The Facts
Australia welcomes international students of all ages.
There is no age limit for applying for a student visa.
Applicants over 30 (and even 40+) successfully receive student visas every year — as long as they can show that their main purpose is study and that their course choice is consistent with their career or education history.

📋 What really matters:

To obtain a student visa, applicants must:
1️⃣ Demonstrate they are genuine students with a genuine intention to study (Genuine Student requirement).
2️⃣ Prove they have sufficient financial capacity to cover:
- tuition fees,
- living expenses in Australia, and
- costs for accompanying family members (if applicable).

Funds must be enough to support the applicant for the entire course (if less than one year) or for at least one year of study (if the course is longer).

💡 AUMA Insight

Your age does not disqualify you from studying in Australia — but your motivation, financial readiness, and study plan do matter.
If you’d like to explore study pathways and assess your eligibility for a student visa, we’re here to help.

🔶🇳🇿The list of English language tests accepted for Australian visa purposes extended

From 7 August 2025, the Department of Home Affairs has expanded the list of English language tests accepted for Australian visa purposes. There are now nine approved tests, up from the previous five.

If you took an English test on or before 6 August 2025, the old rules will continue to apply for certain visas within specific timeframes.

For tests taken on or after 7 August 2025, the Department accepts results from the following tests (undertaken at a secure test centre):

✅Cambridge C1 Advanced Test (C1 Advanced),
✅Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program General (CELPIP General),
✅International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS Academic),
✅International English Language Testing System General Training (IELTS General Training),
✅LANGUAGECERT Academic Test,
✅Michigan English Test (MET),
✅Occupational English Test (OET),
✅Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic),
✅Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT).

This change gives applicants more flexibility and ensures consistent scoring across different test providers.

If you are planning to apply for a visa that requires evidence of English language ability, you need to make sure you sit one of the valid tests for your visa type and that you meet the required scores.

Please note that for the Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482), the English test requirements will not change until 13 September 2025.

For full details and the list of accepted tests, visit the Department of Home Affairs website.

An expired passport is NOT a reason to delay your Australian citizenship!

Many believe they must first renew their national ID documents before applying for Australian citizenship. But what if you can't? Or what if it takes over a year just to get a new passport?

This is exactly the situation one of our clients — a Russian citizen — faced:

❌ Her international passport had been expired for over 2 years
❌ Her internal passport was also expired
❌ The ImmiAccount system on the DOHA website does not allow submission with expired ID
❌ Offline applications are not accepted in such cases

The standard procedure would take over 12 months, involving:

Long waits for appointments at the Russian Consulate in Sydney (1–2 months each time)
Multiple trips to Sydney
Up to 6 months just to confirm identity and citizenship
3 more months to issue a new passport

And only then — apply for Australian citizenship

📉 That’s a whole year of delays, costs, and stress, just to fix documents for a country she no longer plans to return to.

✅ BUT WE FOUND A SHORTER WAY.
In April 2025, the client came to AUMA.
In May 2025, we submitted the citizenship application.
By August 2025, she was invited for the citizenship interview.

👉 No valid passport. No problem. No delay.

💬 Don’t wait for the "perfect moment" to apply. Start your journey to Australian citizenship today — even if your documents are expired.
We know the process. We’ll help you every step of the way.
