This past weekend I was so excited to travel to Mudgee to join a wonderful group of lawyers and mediators for the first meeting of the Collaborative Professionals Central West group.

The collaborative approach to separation encourages couples to resolve disputes as a team with their lawyers and a coach / mediator, with an agreement not to go to Court. The focus is on finding creative solutions to allow for an outcome that preserves respectful relationships as much as possible, particularly where there are children involved.

Financial professionals and child consultants can also be engaged to further support and advise the family, with the whole team working to help the family emerge from the separation and move forward.

At Emerge Legal we love to support our local community, and it was fantastic today to see St Mary's Convent FC competition teams finish the season both Competition Winners and Grand Final winners. A great achievement for a very small club and a testament to the hard work of all the boys and their coaches.

More separating couples are avoiding the well-worn path to the Family Court by engaging in “collaborative divorce” where the professionals work as a team and all parties commit to not go to court.

A very happy client today at Burwood Local Court had her charges dealt with under the Mental Health legislation. The Magistrate accepted the link between her offending behaviour and her mental health issues, and granted our application.

Our client maintains her clean criminal record and has a treatment plan to support her moving forward.
