🏛️ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL COURT OUTCOME🏛️

I represented the bus driver who was involved in a fatal crash back in April 2024.

The Court ordered a 12 months conditional release order (i.e. good behaviour bond) against my client and no other penalties.

Some people may be very upset with such Court orders but I have a job in representing the offender and I regard this an excellent outcome for my client.

1. $20,000 on a $1,120,000 unit in Epping
2. $1,000 on a $670,000 unit in Gladesville
3. $3,000 on a $1,120,000 house in Oran Park

🏛️ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL COURT OUTCOME🏛️

On 24 April 2024, I represented a client who was charged with offences of:-
- negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm
- drive whilst suspended

Injuries suffered by the other driver includes insertion of hardware in his body.

The Court ordered a standard CCO, i.e. he must not commit any offence for the next 18 months and $450 fine.

The injured driver will most likely going to be very upset with such Court orders but I have a job in representing the offender and I regard this an excellent outcome for my client.

*** Changes to persons liable for Surcharge Purchaser Duty (SPD) and Surcharge Land Tax (SLT) ***

It was previously identified that citizens of New Zealand, Finland, Germany, India, Japan, Norway, South Africa and Switzerland were not subject to surcharge purchaser duty due to international tax treaties.

This position has now been reversed as a result of the Treasury Laws Amendment (Foreign Investment) Act 2024 which commenced on 8 April 2024. This Commonwealth Act spells out that international tax treaties do not affect State duties and land taxes.

Changes to federal law means that these citizens MAY NOW NEED TO PAY surcharge purchaser duty if they enter into an agreement to purchase residential property in NSW on or after 8 April 2024.
