💡 SNOWY’S TIP

DON’T JUST WATCH THE RABBIT — WATCH WHERE IT GOES.

If you regularly see rabbits disappearing towards the same fence line, bank, timber pile or patch of vegetation, take note of the location.

It may help lead you to the warren or harbour they’re using.

💡 SNOWY’S TIP
Don’t judge the size of a rabbit problem by sightings alone. Tracks, scats, fresh digging and active warrens can reveal activity you may not see from the ute.

SNOWY’S TIP #1

One Rabbit Usually Means More Than One.

It’s one of the most common things we hear from landowners:

“I’ve only seen one rabbit.”

While that can sometimes be the case, rabbits are social animals and are rarely found alone for long. If you’ve seen one rabbit, there’s a good chance there are others nearby using the same feeding areas or active warrens.

Early signs to look for include:
🐇 Fresh rabbit sightings.
🕳️ Active warrens.
👣 Tracks leading to and from burrows.
💩 Fresh droppings.
🌱 Grazing damage to pasture or vegetation.

The earlier rabbit activity is identified, the easier it is to develop an effective long-term management plan before numbers increase.

If you’ve noticed rabbit activity on your property, we’d be happy to organise a complimentary, no-obligation property assessment and discuss the most suitable rabbit management options for your property.

🦦 WHY FERRETS STILL PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN RABBIT MANAGEMENT

At Snowy’s Bunny Busting & Ferreting, our ferrets are much more than working animals—they’re an important part of our rabbit management programs.

For generations, ferrets have been used as an effective way to work active rabbit warrens, encouraging rabbits to leave the safety of their burrows so they can be managed safely and effectively.

Even with advances in modern technology, ferreting remains a proven method when used as part of a well-planned rabbit management program.

At Snowy’s, our ferrets work alongside trained dogs, property assessments and drone technology to help us achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Every property is different, and no single method is the answer to every rabbit problem. That’s why we believe in combining traditional knowledge with modern techniques to develop a management plan that’s tailored to each individual property.

Our ferrets are well cared for, highly valued members of our team, and we’re incredibly proud of the role they play in helping protect properties throughout the Central West.

Because sometimes…

The best results still come from traditional methods.

🐕 OUR DOGS ARE MORE THAN JUST HUNTING DOGS.

At Snowy’s Bunny Busting & Ferreting, our dogs are an important part of every rabbit management program.

Their role isn’t simply to chase rabbits. They help us locate active rabbit areas, identify fresh rabbit activity and assist us in understanding how rabbits are using a property.

Working alongside our property assessments, drone technology and traditional rabbit management methods, our dogs provide valuable information that helps us develop a tailored management plan for each property.

Every dog is trained to work as part of a team, and their enthusiasm, drive and natural instincts make them an invaluable part of what we do.

We’re incredibly proud of our dogs and the role they play in helping us deliver professional, ethical and effective rabbit management throughout the Central West.

They’re not just part of the team…

They are family.

🌈 A VERY SAD DAY FOR THE SNOWY’S FAMILY

Today is one of the hardest days we’ve had at Snowy’s Bunny Busting & Ferreting.

This morning we have to say goodbye to our beautiful ferret, Leedy.

At 8 years and 8 months old, Leedy has been more than just our number one working ferret. She has been a loyal companion, a trusted worker and a much-loved member of our family.

Over the years she has helped us on countless properties, worked alongside our dogs, and played a huge part in the journey that has become Snowy’s Bunny Busting & Ferreting.

Many of the photos and videos we’ve shared over the years feature Leedy doing what she loved most—working the warrens with the same determination and enthusiasm she always had.

No matter how many years we had with her, it never feels like enough.

Our hearts are absolutely shattered, but we’re also incredibly grateful for every moment we were lucky enough to spend with her.

Run free, beautiful girl.

Thank you for everything you gave us.

You weren’t just one of our ferrets…

You were family.

Thank you for helping us build the foundations of Snowy’s Bunny Busting & Ferreting. We’ll carry your legacy with us on every property we visit.

💔 Rest easy, Leedy.

Forever loved. Forever remembered.

ACTIVE RABBIT WARRENS – WHAT SHOULD YOU LOOK FOR?

Active rabbit warrens are one of the clearest signs that rabbits are well established on a property.

While an old warren may appear abandoned, an active warren will often show fresh signs that rabbits are still using it on a regular basis.

Some common signs of an active rabbit warren include:

🐇 Fresh diggings – Recently disturbed soil around entrances where rabbits have been digging or maintaining their burrows.

👣 Tracks – Well-used rabbit paths leading to and from the warren.

💩 Fresh droppings (scats) – Often found near entrances and along feeding or travel routes.

🌿 Grazing damage – Rabbits feeding on grasses and vegetation close to the warren.

🕳️ Open burrow entrances – Clean, open holes without cobwebs, leaf litter or heavy vegetation blocking the entrance.

At Snowy’s Bunny Busting & Ferreting, identifying active warrens is one of the first steps in developing an effective rabbit management plan.

Understanding where rabbits are living allows us to target our efforts where they’re most likely to have the greatest impact.

Remember, every property is different. That’s why every property assessment is tailored to the individual property and the level of rabbit activity we find.
