It's one of the most common patterns in commercial law.

A business runs well for months or years on informal arrangements, verbal agreements, and good faith. Then something shifts, and suddenly the absence of proper documentation becomes the entire problem.

Disputes with suppliers. A contractor who walks. A business partner who sees things differently. These situations are hard enough to navigate on their own. Without clear written agreements in place, they become significantly harder and considerably more costly.

The good news is that putting proper legal foundations in place is rarely as complicated or expensive as people assume. Contracts, business structures, loan arrangements and commercial agreements can all be reviewed and formalised without disrupting how you operate day to day.

If your business is running on handshakes and assumptions, it's worth having a conversation before something forces your hand.

If you'd like to understand where your business stands, our team at Taylor Legal can help guide you from here.

Our Wills and Estates team has a new opportunity, and we are looking for the right person to be part of it.

This is a Wills and Estates Lawyer or Senior Lawyer role based in Ocean Grove, with hybrid flexibility and both part-time and full-time arrangements considered. It is a role for someone who wants genuine autonomy, real client relationships, and a team that is invested in their success.

We have built something here that we are proud of. A low-turnover culture, a genuinely supportive environment, and a firm that is well established in one of the best regions in Victoria. Our lawyers stay because the work is meaningful, the team is great, and the location does not hurt either.

If you have a minimum of three years of specific Wills and Estates experience and you are looking for a firm where your contribution is seen and your career has real room to move, we would love to hear from you.

Send your resume and cover letter to [email protected]. All applications are treated with complete confidentiality.

We are looking for a Wills & Estates Lawyer or Senior Lawyer to join the Taylor Legal team.
This is a role for someone who wants more than a job at a law firm.

Someone who wants real autonomy over their files, genuine client relationships from day one, and a team around them that actually invests in their growth.

Taylor Legal is based in Ocean Grove, servicing the Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast and Geelong region. We are a close-knit team with long-serving staff, a low-turnover culture, and a genuine commitment to work-life balance. Our lawyers stay, and there is a reason for that.

The role itself is varied and meaningful. You will manage your own files, prepare your own documents, advise clients across the full spectrum of Wills and Estates matters, and play a real part in the continued development of the department. You will have direct access to Katherine and the support of senior practitioners who want to see you succeed.

We are looking for someone with a minimum of three years of specific Wills and Estates experience, a current Australian practising certificate, and the kind of professional warmth that makes clients feel genuinely looked after.

Part-time and full-time arrangements will both be considered for the right person. Interstate transfers are welcome.

If you are looking for a firm where your contribution is visible, your career has real room to grow, and the location genuinely adds to your quality of life, we would love to hear from you.

Send your resume and cover letter to [email protected]. All applications are treated with complete confidentiality.

A lot of business owners know they should have things formalised.

The contracts, the structure, the agreements. But when things are going well, it's easy to push it to the back of the list.

The difficulty is that legal gaps don't usually surface until something goes wrong. And by that point, the options are more limited and the cost, financial and otherwise, is higher than it needed to be.

Good legal foundations aren't about preparing for the worst.

They're about making sure the business you've worked hard to build is properly protected as it grows.

If you've been meaning to review your contracts, your structure, or any arrangements you've entered into informally, getting advice sooner rather than later is always the more practical choice.

Some of the most important conversations we have begin with "I wish I'd come sooner."

Not because people made careless decisions. But because life moves quickly, and legal matters have a way of feeling less urgent than they actually are, right up until they aren't.

Across wills, property, family law, and business, we see the same pattern.

The situation was manageable earlier. By the time advice was sought, the options had narrowed.

If something has been sitting in the back of your mind, that's usually a sign it's worth a conversation.

When people reflect on their experience working with a lawyer, the words that come up most often are not the technical ones.

They talk about feeling heard. About having clarity in a moment that felt uncertain. About the relief of knowing someone capable was genuinely in their corner.

That is what the Taylor Legal team works towards in every matter they take on. Whether someone is going through a separation, purchasing their first property, navigating a significant life change, or managing a complex transaction, the approach is always the same. Clear communication, genuine care, and advice that actually makes sense.

Legal matters can feel overwhelming before they begin. They do not have to. The right support can change the entire experience, from the very first conversation through to the outcome.
Our team brings together expertise across family law, conveyancing, property, wills, estates, and more. What connects all of it is a genuine commitment to the people we work with and the outcomes we help them reach.

If you have been putting something off, or you are simply unsure where to start, we would love to hear from you.

Most people don't realise they need legal advice until something has already gone wrong.

And more often than not, it wasn't the big, obvious decision that caused the problem. It was the detail that felt minor at the time. The clause that wasn't read carefully. The conversation that never happened. The document that was put off because life got busy.

Legal support isn't reserved for crises or courtrooms. It's for the everyday moments that carry more weight than they appear to. Buying a home. Starting a business. Blending a family. Planning for the future. These are the moments where the details matter most, and where having someone in your corner can make all the difference.

Reaching out to a lawyer doesn't have to feel daunting or dramatic. It can simply be a conversation. One that gives you clarity, helps you understand your options, and makes sure the details are taken care of before they become the reason you're back at square one.

The people who tend to feel most confident in life's bigger moments are rarely the ones who had everything figured out. They're the ones who asked the right questions early.

If there's something on your mind, or a decision coming up that feels bigger than it looks, our team is here to help you think it through.

When a separation feels mutual and respectful, it is easy to assume the hard part is behind you.

What people do not always realise is that the details left unaddressed in an amicable situation can become just as complicated as those in a difficult one. Sometimes more so, because they were never properly documented in the first place.

Informal agreements, conversations about property, understandings around children and finances, these things carry real weight in people's lives. But without a legally recognised arrangement in place, they can unravel in ways nobody anticipated.

We have seen situations where both parties genuinely believed everything was sorted, only to find months or years later that their recollection of what was agreed looked quite different. Not because of dishonesty, but because clarity was never truly established.

There are also practical considerations that many people are not aware of. Time limits apply to certain legal steps following separation in Australia. Waiting too long, even when things feel resolved, can quietly limit your options.

Getting legal advice early in a separation does not mean things have to become adversarial. It simply means that whatever is agreed is properly understood and protected for everyone involved.

If you are going through a separation, or supporting someone who is, early advice can make a genuine difference to the outcome.
