🏁 PB MOTORSPORT – WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GET GOING! 🏁
Some race weekends are won on the track. Others are won in the workshop before the green flag even falls.
This was one of those weekends.
If motorsport has taught us anything, it’s that success isn’t just about speed—it’s about determination, teamwork and never giving up when things don’t go to plan.
Two race cars. Three drivers. Three days of racing. One incredible crew.
Friday practice had barely begun when disaster struck. At around 3:00 pm, the Astra developed gear selector issues. The decision was made immediately to replace the gearbox. The car was loaded onto the trailer and taken back to Gordon mechanical care workshop.
Surely that was enough bad luck for one day…
Just 30 minutes later, the Golf GTI also suffered gearbox failure!
Two gearbox failures… in one afternoon!
For many teams, that would have been the end of the weekend.
Not PB Motorsport.
While work continued on the Astra, Dylan took charge with Sam of the Golf GTI. A gearbox was removed from our donor car, the race gearbox was stripped out, and one strong gearbox was built ready for racing. the rest of the crew dug in, working late into the night and through the early hours of Saturday morning with one goal—to have both cars back on the grid.
Against all odds, both PB Motorsport cars rolled into the circuit at 9:00 am on Saturday morning, ready for the first session.
The Astra ran faultlessly, but the Golf GTI wasn’t finished testing us. The car had virtually no power and wasn’t producing any turbo boost. After some quick diagnosis in pit lane, the team found a boost hose had blown off. Problem solved, and the Golf was back where it belonged—on the circuit.
Later in the sprint race another issue surfaced, with the driver reporting a heavy clunk from the front of the car. Inspection revealed the dog bone mount between the gearbox and chassis had failed. It was another quick trip back to Nowra, repairs to the exhaust and replacement parts fitted before the crew once again worked their magic.
By Sunday morning, all the hard work, determination and countless hours behind the scenes were about to pay off.
Both cars performed brilliantly throughout the sprint races before lining up for the endurance race.
This weekend we were also proud to welcome Australian Legends Cars driver Ryan Pring, who teamed up with Oskar Butt in the Astra. Ryan adapted to the car incredibly quickly and worked seamlessly alongside Oskar in the endurance race.
When the chequered flag fell, every late night, every gearbox swap and every kilometre travelled had been worth it.

🏁 6th Outright – Ryan Pring & Oskar Butt
Jason Cavanagh also drove a fantastic race in the Golf GTI, bringing the car home 4th in Class D and 9th Outright after overcoming every challenge the weekend threw at us.

Every gearbox change, every late night, every trip back to the workshop and every lap completed was the result of people pulling together with one common goal.

It was about teamwork.
It was about resilience.
It was about mates refusing to let each other down.
Championships aren’t won by the cars alone. They’re won by the people who refuse to give up when the odds are against them.
