The ambulance industry has some of the highest rates of workplace injury.

Ambulance workers regularly have to battle to have a safe workplace, to have workcover claims accepted when they are injured, or to get an appropriate return to work plan.

But if you are a union member, you dont have to deal with it alone.

Another system failure that leads to paramedics and patient transport ambos being exposed to occupational violence.

Vital information sharing is a must in preventing assaults on ambulance workers.

“Not welcome lists” are leaving unwitting paramedics unloading violent or aggressive patients at hospital emergency departments for care, only to be turned away.

Violence, aggression, threats and abuse towards ambos is never ok.

The lifesaving care our members provide is conditional on them being safe. If you assault, obstruct or threaten our members they will withdraw from the scene and you or your loved one may not get the care they need. You don’t want that on your conscience.

Ambos don’t need help with their equipment. They don’t need help moving the stretcher. They need a safe workplace. Please be a good bystander and if your mate is intoxicated or getting aggressive, take them outside and let them cool off so our members can do their important work.

Please help paramedics by being respectful and letting them save lives without fearing for their own.
