IMPORTANT CHANGE FOR STUDENT VISA HOLDERS
Recent changes have tightened the rules around applying for a new Student visa while in Australia.
A Student visa holder may only apply for another Student visa onshore if they fall within specific exemptions, including:
πΉ Needing up to 12 additional months to complete their current course with the same provider
πΉ Progressing to a higher AQF-level course after completing their main course that has an AQF level.
πΉ Commencing a PhD
πΉ Studying primary or secondary school
πΉ Being sponsored by DFAT or Defence
πΉ Other limited circumstances, including provider default
π There are still some ambiguities around the new provisions. We will continue to monitor the changes and provide further guidance as additional clarification becomes available
If you are considering changing courses or providers, check your visa options before enrolling or discontinuing your current course.
π Always seek advice based on your individual circumstances before making changes to your studies or visa arrangements.
