Having joined Evans & Wislang in 2016, Dylan has played an integral role in the firm's growth and success, becoming a trusted advisor to clients and a respected leader within the team. The Evans & Wislang team were delighted to celebrate the achievements of our colleague, Giorgia Wilson, at the 2026 Lawyers Weekly Awards.

While Giorgia couldn’t be in the room with us, she had a very good reason. On the very same day she was named 2026 Lawyers Weekly Rising Star of the Year (Private Practice), Giorgia was welcoming her first child into the world.

Giorgia’s award was accepted on her behalf by her mentor and one of our partners, Vicki Cook, while members of the Evans & Wislang team proudly attended the evening to celebrate her recognition and the achievements of the wider legal profession.

Giorgia has worked incredibly hard to build her career as a family law solicitor, and this recognition is a wonderful testament to her dedication, professionalism, compassion and commitment to her clients and the profession.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our colleagues, friends and referrers to the Evans & Wislang Grand Office Opening 🥂

It was a wonderful evening of connection, conversation and celebration as we officially opened the doors to our new space.

We were also delighted to be joined by Brokenwood Wines, who shared their expertise and introduced our guests to a selection of their wonderful wines.

If you're buying into a new development, subdivision, or strata scheme in NSW, your property might be subject to a Section 88B instrument, A document that attaches obligations or restrictions directly to the land, not just the owner.

These can cover things like shared driveway maintenance, drainage responsibilities, or building restrictions. In most cases they run with the land and can bind future owners, unless they are released, varied, or otherwise dealt with according to law.

It's the kind of detail that matters, and one we check for every client. Because what's attached to the land can be just as important as the land itself. 🏗️

Q: "Does getting married change our finances automatically?"

A: Marriage does not automatically transfer ownership of your assets or make everything jointly owned. However, it can create important legal rights and obligations — including the right to seek a property settlement if you separate.

Marriage can also affect your estate planning. In NSW, getting married generally revokes a Will made before the wedding, unless an exception applies, such as where the Will was made in contemplation of marriage.
