⚠️ language warning because I’m pi**ed

Three days after her husband died, Ash’s family asked her one question, and her answer is why I keep nagging people to sort their estate planning.

Ash was 29 and seventeen weeks pregnant with triplets when her husband went out for his usual morning run and never came home.

For days she barely spoke to anyone, and then her family gently asked whether she had access to the finances. She said yes because she had built the spreadsheet herself, and that was the first time she spoke.

I have been a lawyer for sixteen years, and I can tell you that kind of calm is rare, since the passwords and the plans so often live in only one person’s head.

Doing it now is only paperwork, and that is a far easier conversation than the one your family will have without it.

What is one thing you have been putting off that you know your family would thank you for sorting?

Listen to my full conversation with Ash from Yellow Falcon at the link below, and send it to the person in your life who keeps saying you really should get around to it.

🙅‍♀️some people are just miserable horrible people

I used to make excuses for these people like ‘they are having a bad day’, ‘we don’t know their circumstances’ etc, then the same s**t just keeps happening.

Whether you want to ‘let them’ or just tell them to F off, that’s up to you.

You’re not obligated to put up with anyone’s s**t, family, friend or otherwise.

I like to think I’m a pretty fair and reasonable person, who, rarely put herself first, doing what’s better for others and not myself and kept justifying people’s behavior… I don’t know about you but I’m done with energy vampires

If it takes your nervous system takes a week (or even hours, days) to recover from seeing somebody, consider whether that’s worth it

For me…. It’s 🙅‍♀️

What are your thoughts? Am I being unreasonable? Is post cancer Stacy being too harsh? Is this the post menopause anger hitting?

If only she knew… ❤️

Almost 12 months ago, this photo was taken.

Just a normal day. Having a drink in a car park at 10am, having a laugh, completely unaware that life as I knew it was about to change.

Within weeks, I’d be diagnosed with stage 3 cancer.

What followed was months of chemotherapy, radiation, brachytherapy, immunotherapy, hospital appointments, scans, blood tests and more tears than I’d probably care to admit.

But here’s the thing.

The cancer treatment was only part of it.

Nobody really prepares you for what happens afterwards.

For the fear that creeps in when something hurts. For the anxiety before every scan. For the exhaustion that doesn’t magically disappear when treatment finishes.

For being thrown into menopause at 43. For looking in the mirror and not always recognising the person looking back.

For feeling overwhelmed by things you once handled without a second thought.

And perhaps hardest of all, for trying to navigate so much of it on your own.

I’ve spent most of my life being the person who gets things done. The problem solver. The one who finds a way.

You raised it calmly. You used reasonable words. And you still ended up in a standoff over the rubbish.

Here's what Liz Murray from Edge of Possibilities told me, and I haven't stopped thinking about it: people don't hear your words. They feel how you deliver them.

Fire your message like a bullet and the other person takes the hit. They miss the point completely.

And that bin? It was never the bin. It's about values, and the quiet feeling that you're drifting apart on how you like life to flow.

You can say the right thing and still get the wrong result if it lands like a bullet.

In this episode, we talk about how to start a tough conversation in your relationship so you get heard instead of getting a defensive wall.

What's your "it's never really about the bin" moment? Tell me below, I want to hear it.

Listen to the full episode with Liz, and send it to the person who needs it.

I planned 17 rounds of Keytruda. I stopped at 7, and here's why.

There's a line in this reel I need you to hear twice: I was more stressed about the next side effect than I was about getting cancer again.

That's not a dramatic thing to say. That's just where I landed after months of watching my body react in ways the handout only hinted at.

When I went looking for what happens if you stop early, I found nothing. The research only covers people who finish all seventeen rounds. So I'm telling you what I wish someone had told me.

Quality over quantity isn't quitting. It's knowing what you can carry.

The full episode covers the side effects that hit me hardest, the conversation I had with my care team, and the guilt I didn't see coming.

Have you ever had to make a health decision that didn't have a clear right answer? How did you know when you'd reached your limit?
