In the wake of COVID-19, there has been a lot more talk about homemade Wills and Online Will Kits. Although it may seem cost-effective, it can be financially and emotionally draining for your loved ones, should a 'homemade will' goes wrong. Before going homemade, you should consider the following:
📝 Your wishes may not be carried into effect. A Will Kit is more likely to be challenged as it can easily be misinterpreted and ambiguous if not done correctly.
📝 A Will Kit may not deal with your superannuation funds. Although some think that superannuation will automatically form part of their Estate and be distributed in accordance with their Will, it's not always the case.
📝 A Will Kit may not cover all bases. There are many situations and circumstances that Will Kits don't take into consideration.
The best way to prepare your Will, protect your wealth + ensure your wishes are adhered to, is to have your Will prepared by a lawyer.
