October is ADHD Awareness Month — a time to build understanding and awareness around how ADHD affects people in all areas of life, including the workplace.

In Australia, an estimated 814,500 people live with ADHD — including 281,200 children and adolescents and 533,300 adults. That’s about 1 in 30 Australians.

At Construct Law Group, we recognise the importance of creating inclusive environments that support neurodiversity and help every team member thrive.

This month, let’s continue the conversation, challenge misconceptions, and celebrate the creativity and innovation that neurodiverse minds bring to the table. 💛

When it comes to domestic building contracts, timing matters. Contractors have 5 business days to provide homeowners with a signed copy of the contract (plus any plans and specifications) or they risk penalties under the QBCC Act.

Our tip for contractors to avoid this penalty is to make sure you provide the full contract immediately after it is signed to the owners and have clear systems in place to double check it has been sent.

We were proud to once again sponsor the HIA Building Women Awards Luncheon – an event we’ve supported for the past five years. Our team had a fantastic time celebrating the women reshaping Queensland’s building industry, and connecting with others in the industry.

Our Director, Aleisha MacKenzie, was honoured to present the Young Achiever/Trailblazer Award to Jordan Jolly from Dream Modular Homes and the Innovation & Change Leader Award to Kim Allen from CRA Construction. Congratulations to these outstanding women for their inspiring contributions and leadership in construction and to all of the nominee’s and winners.

We also had the privilege of hearing from Dominique Lamb, Queensland Small Business Commissioner, who shared her story and the importance of staying grounded in your personal values.

It was inspiring to acknowledge excellence, share stories, and be part of a movement that continues to support and empower women in construction.
