A really rewarding afternoon at our Seniors Festival Basic Will Drafting Workshop yesterday.

The session was led by Lior Maisner, Director and Managing Principal at MML, who guided a great mix of couples and individuals through the process of preparing their basic Wills, answering plenty of thoughtful questions along the way.

It was great to see everyone leave having completed their Will and feeling comfortable with the decisions they had made.

We were also very grateful that each attendee made a donation to Cancer Council Victoria following the session.

While the focus of the workshop was on preparing a basic Will, it was also a good reminder that proper estate planning can involve much more, including Powers of Attorney, medical decision-making arrangements and other important considerations.

A huge thank you to Leanne Tatchell from the Deakin Business Centre - Professional Serviced Office Suites for generously donating the use of the boardroom and providing such an accessible, comfortable space for our guests.

A lovely afternoon, a very worthwhile cause and a few important boxes ticked. 💛

A good excuse to get out of the office for morning tea. ☕️

Last week, the MML team popped around the corner to catch up with Mark Thornton and the team at One Agency Mildura.

With our offices so close, and plenty of familiar faces between the two teams, it was nice to take a little time out for a chat and something sweet.

Always good to connect with other local businesses doing great work in the Mildura community. Thanks for having us guys!

🙌 A great evening connecting with some wonderful people in our local community!

Lior and Sam were recently invited to speak at the Sunraysia Branch of the Royal Victorian Association of Honorary Justices (RVAHJ) in Mildura.

For those unfamiliar with the important work of Honorary Justices, here's a quick rundown:

🔷 Justices of the Peace (JPs) are volunteers who help community members by witnessing statutory declarations, certifying copies of documents and witnessing other legal paperwork.

🔷 Bail Justices (BJs) are volunteers who conduct after-hours bail and remand hearings, helping ensure people have access to important justice processes outside normal court hours.

Lior and Sam enjoyed sharing insights into the role of a Notary Public, how it differs from that of a JP, and how our respective services complement each other in supporting the Sunraysia community.

A big thank you for the warm welcome, great conversations and opportunity to connect with so many community-minded people.

Law can take you in all sorts of directions! 🧭

Our director, Lior Maisner, recently presented at the Mildura Senior College Industry Panel, hosted by Northern Mallee LLEN.

For Lior sharing his career journey is always a great experience, especially when it might give young people a little more confidence as they start thinking about what's next.

If the conversation encouraged even one student to explore a career they hadn't considered before, it was time well spent.

A big thank you to Northern Mallee LLEN and Mildura Senior College for the invitation and for bringing together so many local industries to inspire the next generation. 🙌

Rebecca's legal journey began here at 61 Deakin Avenue back in 2018. A recent High Court decision has changed the way political donations work in Victoria, just months before the State Election on 28 November. Here's a quick breakdown of what you need to know.

The aim of the new laws is to give voters a clearer picture of who is financially supporting political parties and candidates.

Here are three key changes:

🗳️ Political donations are now capped
Individuals and organisations can only donate up to $7,500 over four years to a political party or candidate.

🌏 Foreign donations are banned
Political donations from overseas sources are no longer permitted.

📢 Greater transparency
Anonymous donations over $1,250 are prohibited, and donations of $1,250 or more must be publicly disclosed.

These changes are all about increasing public confidence in the political process.
