After 11 incredible years growing Kindra Migration Lawyers, our Director Simon Leske will be stepping away from immigration law to pursue a new career path in social work.

Simon has made a positive impact on the lives of thousands of clients over nearly 20 years in the immigration law sector. His work has been defined by compassion, integrity and a fierce commitment to helping others. Simon has particularly focused on helping people achieve safety in Australia through the humanitarian visa program and to reunite with family, through complex family visa matters.

Above all though, Simon has been a much-valued colleague, mentor and friend to the team at our firm and the sector more generally. Simon always offers his time generously to those around him, listening to the challenges of a difficult day in this field and being there to celebrate a positive outcome that he knows was hard won.

Simon’s departure is undoubtedly a loss for the migration law community, but we know the same qualities that made him such an exceptional migration lawyer will make him an outstanding social worker.

On behalf of everyone at Kindra Migration Lawyers, thank you, Simon, for your dedication, leadership, friendship and contribution over the years. We are incredibly grateful for all you have given to our clients, our team and our profession.

We wish you every success and happiness in this next adventure.

We’re proud to see Kindra Migration Lawyers' story featured in Lawyers Weekly.

Our Managing Partner and Director, Jessica Williamson, spoke about our journey from WLW to Kindra, the values behind our rebrand and the opportunities we’re creating for new leaders within the firm.

What began as a three-founder practice in 2015 has grown into a diverse team united by compassion, strong advocacy and a commitment to making a positive difference in our clients’ lives.

Kindra Migration Lawyers is proud to be named a finalist for Diversity Law Firm of the Year at the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards.

The news arrived on our International Lunch Day earlier this week, when our team came together to share food, cultures, stories and traditions from around the world.

It was a fitting moment to receive recognition for our commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued, supported and celebrated every day.

We look forward to celebrating at the awards in November.

Could Ministerial Direction 123 affect your visa or an existing character matter?

From 31 October 2026, the new Direction will change how decision-makers weigh factors in visa refusal, cancellation and mandatory cancellation revocation matters. If your matter is still undecided when the Direction begins, the new framework may apply to your case.

We explain the changes and who may be affected in our latest article: https://kindramigration.com.au/insights/character-test-ministerial-direction-123-from-31-october-2026/
