Founded by K Sharma, is a global initiative that brings together Australian-Indian lawyers, law students, and professionals with connections to the Australia–India corridor. It exists to foster connection, mentorship, and cross-border collaboration — empowering legal professionals to share knowledge, exchange opportunities, and contribute to a more inclusive and globally connected legal ecosystem.

Becoming an means that will now play a greater role in shaping conversations about cultural diversity, access to opportunity, and equitable professional representation.

We are currently in the process of structuring and formalising AILN’s membership framework, governance model, and engagement initiatives.

Together, we aim to build a bridge between two vibrant legal communities — one that celebrates cultural heritage, shared values, and a commitment to justice that transcends borders.

What’s the most significant change you’ve seen in the practice of law recently?

Across both India and Australia, the legal profession is adapting to remote hearings, AI-assisted research, and new client expectations. These shifts raise important questions:
- How do we balance innovation with access to justice?
- What skills will the next generation of lawyers need most?
- How can cross-border collaboration make us more resilient?

This is where the Australian Indian Lawyers Network (AILN) comes in.

- Domestically, AILN brings together Indian-Australian lawyers to connect, share knowledge, and amplify our collective voice in the legal profession.
- Internationally, it serves as a platform for cross-border collaboration — linking lawyers across India and Australia to exchange ideas, open opportunities, and strengthen legal ties between our two nations.

In a globalised economy, multinational companies increasingly rely on firms across borders to handle arbitration, regulatory compliance, and complex commercial transactions. AILN is uniquely positioned to help foster those professional connections and collaborations that make such work possible.

At AILN, we want to explore these themes together — not just as professionals, but as a Network.

On the 79th anniversary of India’s Independence, we proudly launch the Australian Indian Lawyers Network (AILN). Just as independence marked a new chapter of self-determination, AILN marks a new chapter for Australian Indian lawyers — a space for connection, collaboration, and advocacy among lawyers of Indian heritage working in or connected to the Australian legal profession.

We are still in our early planning and launch phase, but our vision is clear:
✨ Amplify our voices
✨ Build a stronger, more inclusive community for the future of law

📢 We invite you to follow this page and be part of shaping AILN as we grow.

We are also in the process of forming a Management Committee and Advisory Board. If you’re interested in contributing your time and experience, please reach out at [email protected]. Spaces are limited, and selection will be based on experience and availability.

This is just the beginning — with your involvement, AILN can become a powerful and lasting movement for change.
