We're proud to share a double win at this year's APAC Legal Awards. Roam Migration Law has been named Most Trusted Corporate Immigration Law Firm 2026 – Melbourne, and our own Jackson Taylor has been named Immigration Law Leader of the Year 2026 (Australia).

Since 2016, we've built Roam around one idea: immigration isn't a box-ticking exercise, it's a strategic function that shapes whether a business can grow. That means embedding ourselves in our clients' workforce planning, designing scalable sponsorship frameworks, and giving HR, legal, and global mobility teams the tools to make confident decisions.

It also means never losing sight of the people behind every matter, whether that's an employee relocating their family or a business leader trying to keep a critical project on track.

Thank you to our clients across IT, finance, defence, construction, healthcare, education, and beyond for trusting us with work that matters. And thank you to our team, who between them speak 18 languages, for making sure that trust is earned every day. Congratulations, Jackson, on a richly deserved individual honour.

Australia’s Workforce Trends 2026:

The fastest-growing occupation in Australia right now is Aged and Disabled Carers, which added 27,100 workers over the past year to reach 376,300 employed. Registered Nurses grew by 12,600. Child Carers by 10,700.

This is not a sector-specific story. The care economy is drawing from a shared labour pool, workers who might otherwise be in administration, customer service, or operations support.

If you are seeing increased pressure in those roles, the structural shift toward care work is part of the explanation.

The latest TEMi Immigration Survey reflects a reality many employers already know.

Immigration pressure is no longer showing up in one place. It is showing up across hiring, workforce planning, compliance, mobility, and cost.

That is what we unpack in our latest article.

It was valuable to see this conversation being advanced through TEMi, led by founder Deborah Scerri GMP1 FTEMI, with Jamie Lingham serving as TEMi Immigration Liaison Officer, and with Jackson Taylor contributing as part of the Immigration Advisory Group.

For employers, the issue is not one isolated rule change.

It is the cumulative pressure created by rising costs, tighter process settings, compliance expectations, and ongoing workforce shortages.

That is where immigration stops being a narrow legal issue and becomes a business planning issue.

Our latest article looks at what the TEMi survey is telling us, and what employers should be doing now to respond with more structure, foresight, and control.

A stable clinical workforce does not happen by accident.

This case study shows how Roam Migration Law supported a regional hospital to retain a Resident Medical Officer through permanent residency under the Subclass 186 pathway.

For employers, the issue is bigger than one visa outcome. It is about retention, roster stability, and reducing uncertainty in coverage critical roles.

The 2026 change to the Subclass 485 visa is not only the higher application charge.

For international graduates, the bigger issue is that the visa now sits within a tighter set of rules on age, English, timing and stream choice. That leaves less room for error.

Our latest article looks at what changed, what applies now, and what applicants should check before they lodge.

The subclass 485 visa changed in 2026, with a major fee increase and tighter rules on age, English and timing for international graduates.
