"It's the slow season."

I hear this all the time from business owners.

If this is what the owner believes, what do you think the staff believe and what results do you think you'll be achieving?

It also means you aren't challenging yourself to be creative enough to generate new business. Can you really afford a 'quiet season'?

Train yourself to 'see' the movement of money and resources. See how people are spending money. Use this as inspiration to be creative and turn your 'quiet season' into a success season.

Do you have a business culture by default, or design?

Which one do you believe would be better?

Shelly McElroy, Founder & CEO of Dream Culture joins host Gary Ryan for a second time on the Moving Beyond Being Good Podcast.

In this snippet from the interview due for release early next week, Shelly defines what a "Culture by Default" looks like, and it isn't a pretty picture.

Make sure you are subscribed to the Moving Beyond Being Good Podcast (links in the comments) so you can catch the full episode and find out from Shelly exactly how to create a "Culture by Design".

What is the most scary action you can take in your career?

Take responsibility for all results.

This mindset gives you agency to take action. To repeat what works, and learn from what doesn't.

In an age when people seem to want to run from responsibility, grab it with both hands.

Responsibility puts you in control. You have power.

Try it. It works!

Having a 'Can Do' attitude has at times received a bad wrap.

People with this kind of attitude were considered rogue, single-minded and maverick.

However, a can-do attitude is never more required than today. With technology changing at a pace we have never before experienced, we need people with this attitude to lead the way, gather the team and provide clarity that success WILL happen. A 'can-do' attitude is infectious and works best in a team environment.

How would you rate your 'can-do' attitude? (1 = Low, 10 = Extraordinary)

If you are a Business Owner, you will face adversity..

In 2010 my business was on the brink of collapse. The Great Financial Crisis had hit and it hit hard.

I had a choice. Bail and go get a job, or figure out a way to stay and thrive in business as (at the time) a solopreneur.

Oh, and my 5th child was only 7 days away from being born (he came five weeks early!)

Watch this clip for the full story and what I did to stay in business.

If you are facing adversity, tap into my experience and let me guide you through it. Check the comments below for more information.

Want to know how to be truly free in business and leadership?

Go for failure.

When you are prepared that the 'cost' of what you are striving to create could be 'failure', it's not possible to fail.

At the very minimum you will learn valuable insights that you could not have learned if you weren't prepared to go all in!

The fear of failure is the very fear that stops too many people from committing 100% to their goal. Instead, they commit 90%, or 75%, always leaving something in reserve. There really is power in the 'burn the ships in the harbour' mentality.

Do you agree or disagree? Let me know in comments (yes, it's okay to disagree!)

Personal and professional success starts with a focus o 'being' the future version of yourself, before you are there.

Sound a bit like hocus pocus?

Hear me out.

Michel Jordan was "Michael" as we came to know him, well before any of us knew him as "Michael Jordan" and everything that means to us. Oprah was "Oprah" well before any of us knew her as "Oprah" and everything that means for us with her being the most influential woman in the world.

Both Jordan and Oprah were already 'being' the success they eventually became BEFORE they got there. Jordan trained as if he was the best basketballer in the world. Oprah produced as if she was the best producer in the world.

This mindset, backed up by action and DOING the work eventually resulted in them HAVING the success they first imagined.

What you focus on, you create.

Failure is always a possibility. Too many people focus on the consequences of failing and as a result, create failure.

When you start a business, you have to be laser focused on success. That's why clear goals and targets matter.

FEAR will come. Every experienced business owner will tell you that truth. But see fear for what it usually is - False Events Appearing Real!

Do you agree or disagree with this perspective?
