From 24 March 2026, the Australian Immi App was expanded to include 13 more countries. 🌏

That means more eligible applicants can now:
✅ Submit passport details through the app
📸 Complete facial biometrics using their smartphone
✈️ In many cases, avoid visiting a biometric collection centre

It's another step towards making Australia's visa process faster and more convenient. ✨

🇦🇺 Thinking of joining your kids in Australia? Here's what you need to know about the Balance of Family Test 👇

What is it?
The Balance of Family Test assesses a parent's links to their children in Australia to determine eligibility for parent visas. It ensures that only those with close ties to Australia can apply.

How do you pass it? ✅
A parent satisfies the test if:
➡️ At least half of their children and stepchildren are 'eligible children', OR
➡️ More 'eligible children' live in Australia than in any other single country

Who counts as an 'eligible child'? 👶
A child is an eligible child if they are an Australian citizen, a permanent resident who usually lives in Australia, or a New Zealand citizen who usually lives in Australia.

Who does NOT count? ❌
Children who are in Australia on a temporary visa. They are not considered as usually resident in Australia and are treated as living overseas.

Which visas require it?
Essentially, all permanent Parent Visas must meet this requirement. The only Parent Visa that does not require it is the Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Subclass 870 visa.

Can it be waived? 🚫
The balance of family test cannot be waived, even in compelling or exceptional circumstances.
