This NAIDOC Week, weāre proud to shine a light on AMK Law, a First Nations-led legal practice committed to service, connection, and creating ripple effects of positive change.
Founded by Matthew Karakoulakis, AMK Law is intentionally small but mighty, providing trusted legal services with heart, integrity, and a genuine focus on people first.
āAt the heart of it, I think it's about service. Not just ādoing businessā for the sake of it, but genuinely being of service, especially to good people, people in our communities who are trying to do better for themselves and others.ā
For AMK Law, every client, every matter is an opportunity to do business differently - to listen, to learn from diverse ways of working, and to create impact that ripples out into families, communities, and Country.
NAIDOC Week is a reminder of where this work sits in a bigger story: āIt started from resistance and truth-telling but itās also become a time of reflection and celebration⦠an opportunity to honour those whoāve paved the way, and highlight whatās still ahead.ā
We asked Matthew what one piece of advice he'd like to share with other Social Enterprises in South Australia: "Be open to learning from different ways of doing things. Thereās a lot of power in that. I think sometimes we underestimate how much wisdom exists outside the usual models. Big companies, and even well-established social enterprises, could benefit from sitting back a bit and just⦠listening. Appreciating the different perspectives around them. Thereās strength in that diversity if we let ourselves lean into it."
Weāre grateful to have AMK Law as part of our SASEC member community - leading with purpose, values and courage.
