🚫 Hold one of these visas? You can't apply for a Student visa while you're in Australia.

There are no exemptions. If you hold one of these visas, as a primary or secondary holder, the rule applies to you:

💼 Work and training visas (400, 403, 407, 408, 457, 482)
🎒 Working holiday visas (417, 462)
🎓 Temporary Graduate visa (485)
✈️ Visitor and short-stay visas (600, 601, 602, 651, 771)
🌏 Maritime Crew (988) and Diplomatic (995)

⚠️ One detail on the 995: only the primary holder is blocked. A family member of a Diplomatic (Temporary) visa holder can apply for a Student visa in Australia.

4️⃣ Applying for primary or secondary school? You qualify.

5️⃣ Completed your course and moving to a HIGHER AQF level? You may qualify — but higher education must match higher education, and moving sideways (like ELICOS to another ELICOS) doesn’t count.

6️⃣ Can’t continue because your provider defaulted? You qualify.
