The 407 visa has changed — and a lot of people haven’t caught up yet.

If you’re still approaching the Subclass 407 Training visa the way it worked last year, there’s a real risk your application won’t even be valid.

As of 11 March 2026, you can no longer lodge everything together. Your Sponsorship and Nomination must already be approved before you even submit the visa.

That alone has completely changed the strategy.

On top of that, refusal rates have jumped to 40%+, and the Department is now clearly cracking down on:
• Generic training plans
• Applications that look like ongoing jobs
• Weak or templated submissions

So the question now isn’t “Can we lodge this?”
It’s: “Will this actually get approved?”

We’ve broken all of this down in our latest blog — including what’s changed, why refusals are rising, and how to structure a 407 application that’s actually low-risk and decision-ready in 2026.

If you are currently preparing a 407 application — or reassessing one — understanding these changes is critical.

The Subclass 407 Training visa has undergone a significant shift in 2026. What was previously a flexible and widely used pathway is now subject to substantially higher scrutiny and tighter regulatory control.

Another long-term partnership we’re proud of.

We’ve been working with Jarlam Australia since 2018, supporting them across skills shortage visas, permanent residency pathways, and ongoing employer sponsorship compliance.

This kind of feedback reinforces what we focus on every day — clear advice, structured processes, and making sure everything is handled correctly from start to finish.

For employers, navigating sponsorship obligations and visa pathways isn’t just about getting approvals — it’s about having the right strategy and support behind you long-term.

We appreciate the trust and continued partnership.

Important Update: Changes to the Subclass 407 Training Visa (Effective 11 March 2026)

From today, 11 March 2026, the validity requirements for the Subclass 407 Training Visa have been updated under the Migration Amendment (Training Visas—Sponsorship Requirements) Regulations 2026.

Previously, applicants could lodge the Temporary Activities Sponsorship application, Training Nomination, and the visa application concurrently. However, this is no longer permitted under the updated regulations.

Under the new rules, a valid Subclass 407 visa application can only be lodged once the following approvals are already in place:

• The sponsoring organisation must already be an approved Temporary Activities Sponsor
• The training nomination must be approved for the occupational training program
• The visa application must reference the approved nomination at the time of lodgement

This means that applicants and employers can no longer submit sponsorship, nomination, and visa applications at the same time. Both the sponsorship and nomination approvals must now occur before the visa application is lodged.

The Department of Home Affairs has indicated that these changes aim to strengthen the integrity of the Subclass 407 program and ensure it is used for genuine occupational training purposes.

What this means in practice:
• Employers must plan training programs earlier
• Applicants may face longer lead times before visa lodgement
• Careful visa planning is essential, especially for those already in Australia with expiring visas

If you are considering the Subclass 407 Training Visa, it is important to ensure the correct sequence of applications is followed to avoid invalid lodgements.

If you would like guidance on structuring a compliant 407 training program, feel free to contact the team at Worldly Migration.

Is Your Occupation Really in Shortage — or Is It Just Online Rumours?

Every year, skilled migrants worry about losing eligibility for Australian visas based on speculation.

But the truth is:
Migration lists are based on hard labour market data — not social media posts.

Our latest blog explains:
• How the CSOL is formed
• What the 2025–2026 data shows
• Which jobs remain in strong demand
• Why some professional roles are oversupplied
• How to check your own occupation properly

If you’re considering employer sponsorship, this insight can protect your long-term visa strategy.
