We’re proud to share that The Separation Guide has been named a finalist in the HR Innovation Awards for Social Impact.

This recognition shines a spotlight on an issue that remains largely invisible in workplace wellbeing conversations: relationship breakdown.

It is widely recognised that separation and divorce are among life’s most stressful events. Yet for many employees, the personal, financial and legal challenges that follow can have a significant impact on mental health, productivity, absenteeism and workplace engagement.

Since launching, The Separation Guide has generated an estimated $9.6 billion in social impact by helping individuals navigate separation with less cost, less conflict and less confusion.

By providing early support, trusted information and practical pathways forward, we’re helping people make better decisions during one of the most challenging periods of their lives.

As employers increasingly focus on preventative wellbeing strategies, relationship breakdown remains one of the most overlooked drivers of workforce risk and disruption. It’s a $35 billion dollar per year cost to workplaces that can no longer be ignored.

Supporting employees through major life events isn’t just good for people - it delivers meaningful benefits for organisations, insurers and the broader community.

Our CEO, Angela Harbinson, will be in Sydney next week attending the HR Innovation Summit and Awards Dinner. If you’re attending and would like to learn more about how proactive separation support can strengthen employee wellbeing, reduce risk and improve outcomes, we’d love to connect.

Congratulations to all finalists, and thank you to the HR Innovation Awards judges for recognising the importance of this work.

About 30% of people who visit The Separation Guide are still asking the question:

Is separation really the right next step?

If you’re unsure, it can be worth investing in the relationship before heading down the divorce path. Think of it as an investment in your long-term health, happiness and wellbeing.

Three simple ways to start:
✨ Book a regular date night
Protect time together. Phones down. Presence up.

✨ Take a short break away
A 2–4 day circuit breaker can reduce stress, spark connection and disrupt burnout. Psychologist shares why short breaks work so well (link below).

✨ Try couples therapy
A skilled therapist can help you communicate better and break stuck patterns. Find trusted professionals via our directory.

Not every relationship can or should be saved — but if you’re not sure yet, giving it a genuine try matters.
