🇦🇺 “Family Reunion” or a 30-Year Sentence?
Imagine telling your parents:
“Wait another three decades… and maybe you’ll see your grandchildren.”
Sounds insane, right?
But for thousands of migrants in Australia, this is reality.
The waiting time for some Australian parent visas (subclass 103 and 804) can reach up to 30 YEARS.
Thirty years.
That’s not immigration anymore. That’s an entire lifetime stolen by bureaucracy.
❌ Children growing up without grandparents.
❌ Parents aging alone overseas.
❌ Families watching birthdays, weddings and funerals through a phone screen.
And yes, the “faster” parent visas exist… if you can afford tens of thousands of dollars.
Even then, queues keep growing.
Now compare that to New Zealand 🇳🇿
Under New Zealand’s Parent Resident Visa pathway, selected applicants may receive residence in around 2 years after EOI selection.
2 years vs 30 years.
One country gives families hope.
The other gives them a waiting list longer than a childhood.
Would YOU wait 30 years to hug your mother again?
