🚀 We’re expanding 🚀 SECOND OFFICE LOCATION

We are thrilled to unveil our SECOND office now open in the heart of Nelson Bay CBD @ 1/55 Donald St, Nelson Bay.

We have many valued clients on the Tomaree peninsula that have travelled back and forth to our Medowie office. We saw the need to provide them with a second and local option.

The newly fitted out office is now open by appointment only.

THANK YOU to Port Stephens, Medowie and the Hunter region for your continued support. In turn, it is our greatest honour and privilege to serve you for all your legal needs during the joyful and difficult seasons of life at TWO convenient locations.

⁉️Aged pensioners who receive an inheritance often want to give their kids and grandkids some of their inherited money - but did you know they risk penalties or even losing their aged pension if they do so?

Centrelink’s gifting rules permit a gift of $10,000 a year to a maximum of $30,000 over a five year period to be gifted by either single pensioners or couples on a pension with anything above that counting towards their means testing for five years.

Depending on how much money is received by the pensioner for their inheritance - if it is over the threshold a pensioner could lose their entitlement to a pension altogether.

The two-hour practical workshop is designed to equip parents, carers, teachers, and community members with actionable insights on child safety and building safe environments.

Interesting statistics from SBS on Australian divorce rates.

Fewer Australians tied the knot last year than the year before, while more marriages came to an end, according to new figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

In 2025, the divorce rate rose for the first time in several years, but has still decreased significantly since 2005, when the divorce rate was 3.3 per 1,000 people, compared with 2.2 last year.

Today Brooke & Julian attended the Hunter Valley Law Society event on the New Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) laws that will apply to solicitors and conveyancers from 1 July 2026.

The Government implemented these changes Australia-wide to combat money laundering, fraud, organised crime and other financial crimes.

We have prepared for these changes to ensure a smooth transition for our clients and minimal disruption to conveyancing services.
