Some stores had already implemented this as a safety precaution but new laws come into effect yesterday.

From 1 July, knife retailers will be required to keep knives for sale in a securely locked cabinet or securely tethered to ensure that members of the public cannot access them without staff help. Some exceptions exist including for fishing tackle shops.

Knife retailers must also display a notice at each point of sale indicating that it is unlawful to sell knives to minors and that customers may be asked to show proof of age when buying knives. This also applies to online sales.

We specialise in Wills & Estates, Family Law (Property) and Conveyancing, and we’re looking for someone organised, reliable and keen to grow in a professional environment.

About the role:
• Reception and general office administration
• Answering phones and managing appointments
• Opening files, data entry and file management
• Communicating with clients and other professionals

Legal office experience and knowledge of Smokeball or PEXA would be an advantage, but not essential.

This is a full-time position, however school hours or a traineeship may be considered for the right applicant.

Great news in time for the summer break ☀️🐠🤿🏊🏻‍♀️🏄🏼‍♀️

The Jetty is officially back in action — and it’s brought a local favourite with it. The beloved pontoon has returned too, ready for sun-soaked swims, salty jumps, quiet fishing moments and those simple seaside rituals only locals know by heart.

It’s more than a jetty and a pontoon — it’s a place of childhood memories, summer evenings, and slowing down by the sea.

Wishing our clients a safe and happy festive season 🎄

As we wrap up another busy year at Thomson & Associates, we’d like to extend a sincere thank you to our wonderful clients and colleagues for your trust, support, and collaboration throughout the year.

We rounded out 2025 with a fantastic Christmas lunch at Pizzateca 🍕—great food and even better company.

Some highlights from the year:
✨ Sonika joined us as our Admin Assistant and has already made an outstanding impact, streamlining our systems and bringing energy and care to everything she does.
✨ Haneen was promoted to Senior Solicitor, a well-deserved milestone reflecting her continued dedication, expertise, and excellent work for our clients.
✨ Elly, our PLT student, joined us in early December, and we’re looking forward to mentoring her and supporting her as she begins her legal career.
✨ Elise crossed a major item off her bucket list, diving in Palau—an unforgettable adventure in one of the world’s most beautiful underwater destinations.

We’re proud of our team and grateful for another year of growth. Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing holiday season and a wonderful start to the year ahead.
