Reaching an agreement with a former partner, on your own terms, can feel like real progress after a hard stretch.
Consent orders are how you turn that agreement into something the court will formally recognise, whether it covers your children's arrangements or how property is divided. For parenting matters, the court looks at what is in the best interests of the child. For property, it considers whether the split is just and equitable. They can be difficult to change once made, so it is worth understanding what you are agreeing to before you apply.
Every family's situation is different, and this is general information only, not a substitute for advice about your circumstances. A family lawyer can talk you through what this could mean for you. https://www.rfr.bz/f95bf00ef
