Proud to have taken part in this year's Vinnies CEO Sleepout alongside incredible Sunshine Coast business leaders.

Together with Argon Law, the Sunshine Coast Business Council team raised over $55,000 to support those experiencing homelessness in our region.

A huge thank you to everyone in the SCBC team for your commitment and support in making a real difference, and to Vinnies and their amazing volunteers for their year-round commitment to the cause. It's incredible the impact they make every day to everyday Australians.

Funds raised provide crisis accommodation, meals and emergency relief, practical assistance to sustain housing and longer-term support to rebuild safety and stability.

For many clients, particularly later in life, property is their most significant asset. Recently, we have seen an increasing number of clients seek out a reverse mortgage due to a requirement for extra liquidity rather than a need for credit.

Reverse mortgages are significantly different to standard mortgages. The distinction is not just in how the product is structured but also in the potential legal and financial consequence.

Mortgage holders should pay close attention to risk allocation, long term equity erosion, and the level of borrower protection.

🌊 On the Coast | Property Sellers: New Disclosure Requirements Are Here

With the Sunshine Coast property market continuing to see strong activity, preparation for sellers is key.

Disclosure is no longer simply a matter of providing information when requested - there are now specific requirements around what must be disclosed before a purchase contract is signed.

Common issues we're discussing with clients who are selling their properties include:

• What information must be disclosed before a contract is signed
• Ensuring disclosure documents are accurate and complete
• Understanding the consequences of missing or incorrect information
• Managing transaction timing and contract preparation

Importantly, these requirements apply before a buyer commits to the purchase.

✔ Sellers should ensure disclosure documents are prepared early
✔ Early advice can help avoid delays and reduce risk

A well-managed conveyancing process helps the transaction settle smoothly and can also help avoid issues that may arise after a contract is signed.

If you're preparing to sell property, now is a good time to talk to our conveyancing team to know what you're dealing with.

We see these legal mistakes all the time.

Many business owners don't run into trouble because of one major decision - it's often the small oversights that create the biggest risks. The good news? Most of these issues are preventable with the right advice and planning.

In this short video, we cover three common mistakes:
✔️ Relying on AI or generic contract templates
✔️ Not setting your business up for future growth
✔️ Failing to review contracts as your business evolves

If you'd like guidance tailored to your business, our team at Argon Law is here to help.

🌿 Quick Brief | Franchising 🌿

Buying into a franchise can offer the benefit of an established brand, proven systems and ongoing support. Of course, it's important to understand exactly what you're signing up for.

Common areas to consider include:

🌿 Franchise Agreements: These documents set out your rights, obligations, fees and restrictions, often for many years to come.

🌿 Disclosure Documents: Understanding the financial and operational information provided by the franchisor is critical before committing.

🌿 Exit and Renewal Rights: Not all franchise arrangements provide the same flexibility when it's time to renew, sell or exit the business.

Before signing a franchise agreement, it's worth understanding both the opportunity and the risks. We can help you review the documentation, identify potential issues and make an informed decision.

The Sunshine Coast's soul is expanded by its arts culture: by those who are creative and those who admire creativity.

We are proud to continue our support of the arts as major sponsor of the Sunshine Coast National Art Prize (SCNAP) – the region’s premier national contemporary art award - for the eighth year in a row.

The forty artworks selected as finalists will be exhibited at the Caloundra Regional Gallery from 21 August until 11 October 2026. We can't wait to see what the judges choose this year.
