Where to start with Property and Financial Matters 🏠
People that see us for advice regarding property and financial matters often feel overwhelmed, unsure where to start and worried about what the future holds 🥺🤯😓
We don’t need to gate keep, and take more time than is necessary to give you efficient and practical advice about what is fair. So here’s some tips to help you prepare:
1️⃣ Get your head around the asset pool, start looking at what things might be worth and gathering information to verify it. Put all your assets and liabilities in a table and work out what the ‘bottom line’ is.
2️⃣ Exchange information. Don’t be afraid to ask for details of the finances between you, you’re entitled to that information. That said, if the other party isn’t playing ball, come see us we can help.
3️⃣ Prepare your documents. Get documents together in an organised fashion (preferably electronically, labelled accurately and better yet in a document list!) This will save time and money in legal costs late.
4️⃣ Gather information from credible sources! The Family Court website is a good resource, online one stop shops, eash and Bobs, uncles brother 🙅♀️ 🤦🏼♀️
