❗️Important Update for Our Clients: New Anti-Money Laundering (AML/CTF) Requirements Coming to Queensland ❗️

Dear Clients and Friends,

From 1 July 2026, new national Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) reforms will apply to legal practices in Australia, including here in Queensland. These changes (often referred to as “Tranche 2”) aim to strengthen protections against financial crime and align Australia with international standards.

What does this mean for you?

If we are assisting with real estate transactions or other specified legal work, we will need to implement enhanced client identification, verification, and due diligence processes. This is a standard requirement under the new rules and helps protect everyone involved.

We are preparing thoroughly to ensure a smooth transition:
• Enrolling with AUSTRAC (the regulator) as required.
• Updating our internal systems and AML/CTF program.

Our priority remains delivering excellent service to you with minimal disruption. Most existing clients will notice only straightforward additional identity verification steps where applicable.

Important Alert: Phishing Scam Targeting Harvey Legal
We’ve been made aware of a phishing scam impersonating Harvey Legal.
Fraudulent emails, claiming to be from our firm and appearing to come from “AdobeSign” or "Sendgb" are being sent to individuals. These emails may ask you to open a document or click a link to “sign” something.
These emails are NOT from Harvey Legal.
Here’s what to do:
Delete the email immediately if you receive one. Do not open any attachments or click any links.
If you’ve already clicked a link or opened a file, change your passwords immediately and contact your IT professional to secure your system.
Verify any requests for funds. Harvey Legal will never ask you to transfer money via email. Always call us directly at 07 4829 4363 to confirm any payment requests.
