I don't post often, but occasionally something warrants comment. It is difficult to stay silent when you see that one party has clearly taken financial and emotional advantage of their spouse and continues that conduct throughout a breakup.
Refusing to take responsibility—whether for your children or for the role your partner played in building your life and family—is indefensible. Regardless of whether a relationship survives, the contributions of the other parent, both to you and to your children, deserve acknowledgment and respect.
You may no longer wish to remain with that person, but you do not get to erase their role or diminish their importance. To do so reflects poorly not only on your character, but on your judgment.
More importantly, your children are watching. They love both parents. Every disparaging remark you make about the other parent harms them, harms the other parent, and ultimately harms you. It erodes trust, stability, and the example you set for them.
Take responsibility. Show some maturity. Act in a way that your children can respect in years to come.
