What is Rotary? Rotary was founded by Paul P Harris, a lawyer, in 1905 to foster fellowship and friendship between professionals and to provide services to the community. Rotary today has over 1.2 million members around the world. Past Rotarians include John F Kennedy, Margaret Thatcher, Neil Armstrong and Winston Churchill. Current Rotarians include Angela Merkel, Bill Gates, and Prince Charles.
What is Rotaract? As joining Rotary was originally restricted to those aged 30 or over, Rotaract was created to allow youth aged 18 – 30 to become involved with Rotary. What is Rotaract Rivercity? Rotaract Rivercity is a Rotaract club based in Brisbane, Australia. Whilst we aim to fulfill the goals of Rotary and Rotaract, we specifically aim to effect positive change in the wider community by empowering young people. We hope to achieve our goals by:
1) Fostering relationships between our members and Rotarians, both locally and internationally;
2) Hosting professional development seminars to develop skill sets;
3) Assisting Rotary with their international charitable efforts; and
4) Initiating our own charitable projects.
