Long valued as a sophisticated estate planning tool, testamentary trusts are back in focus following proposed changes in the 2026-27 Federal Budget. From 1 July 2028, certain discretionary trusts may be subject to a proposed 30% minimum tax.

More than a trend, they can offer valuable asset protection and tax advantages, particularly when planning for children and future generations.
